About Me
Training and credentials
My name is Alex, and I hold a Bachelor Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and currently completing a Master’s degree in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy.
I am a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and have lectured in counselling and psychotherapy topics such as ethics, lifespan development, trauma-informed practice, and theory and practice of counselling and psychotherapy.
I believe therapy is about integration —helping you bring all parts of yourself into alignment. While I don’t diagnose, I recognise how past diagnoses, trauma, and life experiences shape our understanding of ourselves. My role is to meet you where you are and support you in creating the kind of life, relationships, and self-connection that feel truly authentic.
My Approach
I view therapy as a joint venture, where therapist and client embark on a shared journey toward healing and growth. I value the client's perspective and see them as an active participant in the therapeutic process.
My approach is non-pathologising, recognising that struggles are often responses to a society where it can be difficult to make sense of things or to feel truly connected.
Through my work, I have developed an understanding of how people can create change, while appreciating that the process looks unique to each individual. Despite similarities in the 'how' of working toward change, the specifics are always shaped by the person’s unique journey. Change may not be easy, but in my humble opinion, it is the most worthwhile thing to put our efforts toward.
I work from an integrative and relational perspective, drawing on evidence-based methods, trauma-informed practices, and borrow from the insights of Carl Jung. I aim to create a compassionate and grounded space where clients feel safe to explore their challenges, discover insights, and create meaningful change.
I want people to know that while feeling disconnected, lonely, misunderstood, confused, angry, anxious, or depressed can seem like it is the problem or something to be avoided, it is also pointing directly to what is needing to be experienced and integrated.
By becoming more capable of integrating our experiences, being attuned to ourselves, others, and the world, there is room made for growth in the direction that many deeply crave.
Often along the path to growth we are presented with challenges that can keep us feeling stuck, which comes with a sense of shame or guilt.
I want to help people to feel at home in their body, value their unique perspectives and experience, and be inspired to continue to head in the direction of growth and authenticity.
Outside the Therapy Room
In my spare time, I enjoy reading about Jungian psychology, sipping coffee by the beach, staying active, and travelling to gain new perspectives and see the world. These pursuits inspire my personal and professional life, keeping me curious about human nature and the unique stories we all carry.
If you’re ready to explore your next steps toward healing and self-discovery,
I’d be honoured to support you on your journey.
